Now that we got all that out of the way. I wanted to share with you a time all my friends got together to surprise me. I’m one of those people who loves to have Fun….Always!! I’d try pretty much any adventure and as a kid, I probably played every sport and I never missed a weekend of roller skating. I went at least 3 times a week and as I got older and it went out of style (No Idea WHY!) I missed it sooooo much. Most of my friends now, would never go roller skating.
A few years back I found a roller rink and informed everyone I really wanted to go. Of course I got a big fat NO from them all. I knew if I could get them there, they would have a great time so I put on my thinking cap and informed my best friend that I wanted her to throw me a roller skating birthday party. My birthday was coming and I didn’t hear anything so I figured it was a no go.
A week before my birthday I received an invitation for “My Roller Skating Birthday Party!” I was so excited I screamed and jumped up and down!
The day of the party, when we arrived, all my close friends and family were there, adults as well as children. Everyone put on their skates, cringing about setting foot on that rink, thinking they would wind up on their butts. One by one we attempted to get our wheels on the rink and before we knew it. There we all were holding hands like kids, skating around and around, singing to our favorite songs that we requested!! The kids would come by and grab an adult to wiz them around the rink. laughter filled the building as our hair blew in the breeze and smiles were on all our faces.
Of course we forgot just how exerting skating is, the aching muscles and the blisters but it didn’t stop the follow-up conversation the weeks to follow. It made us remember how much fun it was to be kids! The best part is I was talking about going back and everyone gladly excepted the invitation! This is ranked as positive peer pressure!
When was the last time you went roller skating or ice skating?
